I moved to Barcelona in 2009 from my native country of Israel, where I earned a dual degree in History and Geography from Tel Aviv University. Before joining Barcelona Dreaming, I organized and led guided tours of the Barcelona old Synagogue’s Museum. My abiding passion for the stories of the Jewish life in modern and ancient Spain and my academic study of these time periods makes me a deeply knowledgeable and emotive tour guide, open to any and all questions and adaptable to the needs or interests of my clients. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew if you’re interested
Born in the island of Eivissa I studied History and Geography, Dance and Music in the Conservatory of Ibiza.
Coming from a Spanish Jewish family I have made the History of Spanish Jews one of my lines of research finding names of past relatives in the papers of the Inquisition. My passion for History and music has taken me to travel to places like Turkey or Greece looking for the beautiful songs that are part of the sephardic legacy. I am fluent in English, catalán and Spanish
Being born in a kibbutz, to a family who hosted international volunteers and valued their unique perspectives, ingrained within me a love of people, culture and story from a formative age.
Since that time I’ve moved to Barcelona and that initial interest has ignited into a greater passion. Sparks first appeared as my new Catalan friends related the stories of their Sepharadic roots. This laid the foundation for my growing awareness of the importance of the medieval Jewish community to Barcelona. Historical study revealed a tapestry of tolerant periods followed by fanaticism and narrow-mindedness. I began to unravel the mystery of Jewish heritage interwoven throughout the cultural fermentation of Catalan history. Ancient architecture, hidden neighborhood histories and the personal stories of philosophers and Rabbis – great thinkers, wise counselors, genius theologians – encased in the bedrock of this modern cosmopolitan city.
